When the owners first moved into their home, the landscape plan consisted of no more than a small back deck. That didn’t match the family’s lifestyle—a love of entertaining meant that they wanted to use their outdoor space to its full potential.
The Van Zelst team worked with the homeowners to design a comprehensive plan for integrating a pool, spa and fire pit into the space, with a variety of areas carved out for entertaining. The process went in stages, with the family realizing just how much they’d take advantage of various features and deciding to maximize them along the way. As a result, an extended pool deck, a generous patio around the fire pit and a spacious lawn are all available for people to gather and enjoy.
In addition to extensive hardscape, the Van Zelst team integrated a variety of plantings, adding vivid color to the mature trees that were already clustered around the landscape.
