As this family’s kids grew older, their parents wanted to give them a space they could enjoy with their friends. The result is a patio and pool house addition that suit their family’s summer lifestyle perfectly.
Unlike many Van Zelst engagements, this one de-emphasized plantings. The family wanted to keep the grass underfoot, so people could stroll easily from the house to the pool or fire pit. Tumbled pavers were installed throughout the patio, pool deck and walkways to connect areas defined for large and smaller groups. Finally, a flagstone fire pit was installed to match the existing spa design, giving the kids a place to gather late into the evenings, even as the weather turns cooler.
